What the Inner Child Really Means!

ree

The “inner child” is not just a concept — it’s the emotional body within you that holds every feeling, memory, and unmet need from your earliest years. This emotional body starts to anchor at age 13 and continue through age 15.

In practical terms, your inner child shows up when (these are just a few examples):

  • You feel hurt by criticism or rejection.

  • Boundaries are pushed

  • You are insecure or jealous of someone else getting attention and maybe you are not.

  • You crave approval and validation.

  • You react emotionally in ways that feel “younger” than your age.

  • You struggle with trust or fear of abandonment.

Doing inner child work means reconnecting with this part of yourself through awareness, compassion, and communication. It's about giving yourself some grace- showing your little self that you care and you're sorry you had to go through what you went through. It's about self-love and holding yourself while "tough" emotions are felt through the process.

It’s about recognizing that your adult self now has the power to nurture, protect, and reparent the inner child who once felt powerless. The processes with the Inner child once learned, are life changing tools and things you can use every step of the way.

The goal isn’t to erase the past — it’s to meet the child within you with presence and love so you can live as your authentic self, free from the patterns created by old pain. That's why it is so important to do the inner spiritual work. The whole point of the journey is to eradicate the pain that was once held in the emotional and physical body; only then can you be free.
